Mental Health Boot Camp

Do you want your students to find out what their superpowers are? Do you want them to be true to themselves and live their best lives? Then it’s time to go to mental health boot camp! It’s true that mental fitness is just as important as physical fitness – and it really is within your students’ power to practice mental fitness EVERY day.

We all feel anxious and sad sometimes, but what is normal? And when does it get to a level that you need additional help to deal with it?   Find out what you can do to manage anxiety and depression and learn positive coping strategies and ways to exercise your mental health.

So, why is it called a boot camp?  The term boot camp comes from the military and it means a short intensive training. Take this short intensive boot camp – for your brain!

Hear real-life stories, get helpful tips, learn some tested and true self-help strategies… and more! We’ll watch videos, listen to music, do some warm-up exercises and use some practical hands-on tools. Join this fun and dynamic boot camp to build your resilience and feel better every day.

Basics:

We teach students what mental health is and how to “work it out” through basic psychological theories and strategies.

Who:

  1. Elementary-Aged Students (K – 4th grades)
  2. Middle School (5th-8th) and High School (9th-12th)

What:

Multi-week program (designed for 8 to 10 weeks), 1 to 2 times a week, 45 minutes each.  We are flexible based on what works for your students and school schedule.

Where:

Within the classroom with the teacher and/or aide present/participating to help with generalization.

When:

Any time throughout the school year or summer.  Summer Camps or Extended School Years (ESY) are great for boot camp!

Behavioral Boot Camp

POSITIVE BEHAVIOR IS TAUGHT. SO IS NEGATIVE.

LET’S GIVE KIDS THE TOOLS TO BE AS SUCCESSFUL AS POSSIBLE!

Basics:

We are going to re-train kids to adjust to appropriate classroom behaviors

Who:

Preschool to 2nd grade

What:

4 week program, 3x a week minimum, 2 hours each which can be altered based on school schedule

Where:

Within the classroom….teachers and aides must be present as this is a boot camp for them as well

When:

Ideally August and September; however, can go throughout the year

Owning Our Thoughts

Boot Camp

Basics:

We help students understand the impact of their thoughts on their feelings and behaviors. We teach students to identify thinking errors that are impacting their lives and to combat them with more realistic, helpful and positive ways of thinking.

Who:

5th grade – 12th grade

What:

Multi-week program (designed for 6 weeks), 1 time per week, 45-60 minutes each.  We are flexible based on what works for your students and schedule.

Where:

Within the classroom, with teachers and/or aides present and participating to help with generalizations.

When:

Any time throughout the school year or summer.  Summer Camps or Extended School Years (ESY) are great for boot camp!

 

Students are recommended to have completed mental health boot camp prior to attending this program.
