CLINICAL ASSESSMENT TEAM

  • Our Clinical Assessment Team provides evaluations for individuals ranging from early childhood to college age at our Ohio City facility.
  • Our tests will help the Team determine whether a person has diagnoses such as:
ADHD, anxiety, depression, autism, and/or a learning disability (including dyslexia).
  • Depending on an individual’s specific needs, our evaluations may include the following tests:
        • Executive functioning assessments for ADHD evaluations
        • The ADOS for autism evaluations
        • Cognitive and academic achievement assessments for learning disability evaluations
        • Language tests
        • Sensory tests
        • Fine motor tests
    • When necessary, our team may collaborate with school personnel to complete observations within the educational setting.

  • Depending on an individual’s specific needs, the following Team members may evaluate your child:

    • Psychology Assistants and Psychology Trainees
    • Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist

We believe this is an incredible asset to our team in that our team members are actively involved in the real settings in which students are participating and therefore have a “beyond the clinic” understanding

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What is a psychological evaluation?
A: A psychological evaluation is a comprehensive assessment conducted by a licensed psychologist or mental health professional to understand an individual’s cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning. It often includes a combination of interviews, standardized tests, questionnaires, and observations. Our Team specifically tests to determine if an individual has ADHD, Autism, or Learning Disability (including dyslexia) by gathering data from you, your family, and your child’s educators.

Q: What’s the difference between a psychological evaluation completed by the Clinical Assessment Team and an evaluation team report (ETR) completed by a school district?
A: Psychological evaluations are used for a range of purposes including mental health diagnoses and treatment planning, while ETRs are specifically for determining educational needs and eligibility for special education services. In other words, our Team can formally diagnose ADHD, Autism, or a Learning Disability while a school team can determine whether an individual qualifies for special education services through an individual educational program (IEP). Our Team can identify possible supports for an individual in the school setting and beyond while a school team focuses on supporting an individual’s needs in the school setting.

Q: Do you, your child, or a family member need a psychological evaluation?
A: It depends! People may request a psychological evaluation if they suspect an individual has a condition like ADHD, Autism, or a Learning Disability and/or if an individual displays differences in the home, school, or community setting that affect their overall well-being. A psychological evaluation can provide valuable information for understanding an individual’s needs and strengths, and it helps in creating a tailored plan to support an individual’s well-being and development. If an individual meets criteria for a formal diagnosis from a psychological evaluation, then this diagnosis can be helpful in accessing specific support for the individual. For example, any school-aged child who is formally diagnosed with Autism is eligible for the Ohio Autism Scholarship.

Q: What can I expect after I complete the Submission Form for the Clinical Assessment Team?
A: A Team member will contact you to schedule a phone consultation to gather additional information about the individual being referred for the evaluation. After the phone consultation, a Team member will then draft an individualized evaluation plan for the individual. The draft will include an estimated cost of the evaluation based on the concerns you reported. If you agree to the evaluation plan, then a Team member will send you additional paperwork to complete and schedule the individual for testing.

Q: When does testing take place?
A: Testing sessions typically take place on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. However, we will make every effort to accommodate your schedule.

Q: How long is the evaluation process?
A: This can vary from person to person depending on your availability, the Team’s availability, and the types of tests that are administered. Evaluations typically require one to two in person sessions with our Team, and our Team aims to complete evaluation reports within one month after the final testing session.

Q: What can I expect once the evaluation is complete?
A: You will receive an evaluation report that includes your child’s testing results and recommendations to an individual’s well-being and development. The testing results may include a formal diagnosis, and the recommendations may include referrals to local therapists, speech-language pathologists, or occupational therapists who can help support an individual’s identified needs. The Team will provide you with a copy of the evaluation report and review the report with you and/or your family during an hour-long feedback session. You will be able to share this report with an educational team or medical provider if you would like to do so.

Q: Do you offer payment plans for your evaluation services?
A: Wraparound Experts is currently out of network with all insurance plans. Half of the evaluation cost is due at your first scheduled testing session, with the remaining half due at the end of the evaluation process at the feedback session. We can adjust this payment schedule on an as-needed basis; please share any concerns about payment options with our Team during your phone consultation.
